Set-up Gateway, Confirm Wi-Fi, and Note Equipment Data

1. Check for wireless signal at the furnace/air handler

NEXT STEP >

While you may see the wireless network through your mobile phone or tablet, it is important to check the desired wireless signal strength using a mobile app showing “Received Signal Strength Indication” or RSSI.

2. Instructions for various wireless devices

For Android devices —  use an app called WiFi Analyzer

For iOS (Apple) devices — use an app called Airport Utility and enable the WiFi scanner function through the settings app.

3. Signal strength specifications

Confirm the Gateway’s RSSI level stays in a range of -70 to 0 dBm at proposed data hub mounting location.

If the wireless signal level at desired Data Hub mounting location is too low, you may need to consider alternate Data Hub mounting locations or Powerline Extenders and Gateway to relocate a wireless network closer to Data Hub.

5. Connect the gateway to the existing home router

Connect one end of the provided network cable to an open port on the Gateway.

Connect the other end of the network cable to any open, numbered LAN port on the existing home router.

4. Power the Sensi Predict configured gateway (optional)

Connect the Gateway power adapter to an outlet near the existing home router and ensure the Gateway powers up by observing the power light on the Gateway.

6. Installation support information

For more information on using these free apps or Powerline Extenders, visit the Support section of the Sensi Predict Pro Portal or call 1-877-424-1715.

7. Write down the ID from the data hub, you will need this during activation

The Data Hub ID (located on the back side, just above the barcode) has 16-alpha-numberic characters. You may also take a photo to reference later in the install. The information template below is located on the instruction sheet inside the Sensi Predict box

NEXT STEP >

9. Finishing main cable wiring

Tape off or wire nut unused wires – not all wires are used depending on the system.

Make sure all new wires are tight on the control terminal. Loose control terminal wires are one of the top reasons for a callback.

NEXT STEP >

10. Connect the main cable power lines

Connect the Main Cable power lines to current sensor and power transformer leads.

NEXT STEP >

11. Connect the current sensor

Connect the Current Sensor with the latching connection on the Sensi Predict Main Cable.

Connect the keyed Power Transformer to the Sensi Predict Main Cable.

NEXT STEP >

13. Install the supply air and return air sensors

For each air sensor, drill a 3/8” hole, remove the paper from the sticky back tape, install the sensor and secure with a 3/4” screw.

NEXT STEP >

14. Install the supply sensor

At minimum, install the Supply Sensor (black wire) in the supply duct 12”-24” above the evaporator coil-after ventilator, humidifier or dehumidifier (install before a steam humidifier).

NEXT STEP >

15. Install the return sensor

Install the Return Sensor (grey wire) in the return ducts after ventilator and before humidifier/dehumidifier.

NEXT STEP >

16. Install the yellow refrigerant line sensor

Insert the yellow Suction Line Sensor between the line and insulation. Secure sensor with a cable tie.

NEXT STEP >

17. Install the red refrigerant line sensor

Insert the red Liquid Line Sensor into the Sensor Holder from the top down.

NEXT STEP >

18. Attach sensor holder to liquid line

Near the cabinet, attach and secure Sensor Holder to the liquid line with a cable tie.

NEXT STEP >

19. Mount the Sensi Predict data hub

Mount the Sensi Predict Data Hub up high. It can be mounted magnetically to return duct, screwed to solid surface or cable tie strapped to a joist.

  • Mount the Sensi Predict Data Hub in a location without significant temperature change.
  • Use two long screws to secure the hub.
  • DO NOT MOUNT to a supply duct.
  • DO NOT blind-screw mount near the coil or other equipment
